The Owner/Director of PILATES STATEN ISLAND, Celeste Zopich, is a former dancer classically trained in ballet and Martha Graham technique. She studied and performed with The Clive Thompson Dance Company and also studied under the direction of Ms. Ellen Tharp of the Staten Island Ballet. It was her dance background that brought her to Pilates where she trained comprehensively in the STOTT™ Pilates Method and received her Certificate of Training for all levels of Pilates work. Celeste enhanced her training through work either private and in small workshop settings with Mary Bowen, Lolita San Miguel, Kathy Grant, and Ron Fletcher. Celeste holds the highest National Credential as a PMA - Gold Certified Teacher.

Celeste specializes in "perceptive movement analysis." With her unique ability to analyze how her clients move (or don't move), through visual and tactile measures, she has been successful in advancing significant postural improvement, post-rehabilitative recovery, body shape changes, and overall wellbeing and health improvements. Celeste has been teaching since 2000 and has developed her Integrated Classical Pilates Method (ICPM) based on the need of her varied client base. The ICPM derives principally from the classical work of J.H. Pilates with additional focus on contemporary methodology.

Celeste is a not only a member instructor of the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) and their national guidelines but the studios are also a PMA Educational Training Organization. She had the great pleasure of serving on the Item Writing Committee, writing questions for the PMA National Examination in 2007. As of August 2008, she has passed nomination for the PMA Board of Directors.

Celeste has been featured in various Local News Publications and has appeared on her local Cable Network in "Health Break" during the acclaimed "Profiles" program hosted by Mickey Burns.

Celeste is the ONLY PMA Gold Certified Teacher on Staten Island and her studio boasts the ONLY Instructors who are also PMA CPT's (Certified Pilates Teachers).
